Secondhand Style

Dear Readers,

This story begins with a serious closet clean-out and a goal to own less stuff. It ends with three new pieces of clothing. Bear with me on this one, as I can explain.

Our move in August was the perfect excuse to go through my closet and weed out pieces that were ready for a new home. With several bags of clothes in tow, I went to Crossroads Trading Company in Lincoln Park to sell what I could and donate the rest. Not only did I sell most of what I brought, but I found the cutest fall pieces for a grand total of – wait for it – $45.  That’s right, a See By Chloe dress, a T By Alexander Wang sweater, and a Zara top for under $50 bucks.

All in all, I made almost $400 for my own items and used some of that money as store credit towards Crossroads’ awesome inventory. From mall brands to designer labels, Crossroads carries seasonal trends and wardrobe basics perfect for a girl (or guy!) on a budget. Items are gently worn or brand new with the original tags in place, and the Crossroads team carefully vets every single piece that comes through their doors.

Not only was it a great trading experience, but I loved shopping the organized racks and having time to try things on while I waited for my name to be called. In a rush? Crossroads also offers a 24/7 drop-off service where you can leave your labeled bags with the team, and they’ll call you once they’ve reviewed everything. Easy, convenient, and so much fun!

Hahahaha, I have to say, Crossroads was a great experience – the trends and labels are current, and the staff is so knowledgeable about their inventory. Headed back there this weekend, in fact. 😉
