Bloggers Who Budget: Favorite Transitional Pieces For Less

Dear Readers,

The Bloggers Who Budget are back this month to answer the age-old style question, “What do you wear between the end of summer and the start of fall?” It’s that favorite transitional piece that stays in your closet all year round…or at least until you’re back in your puffer coat for six months. With a budget of $70, we compiled our best picks for this time of year, and I’m smitten with this boxy shift from Old Navy.

There’s nothing I love better than versatile pieces in simple silhouettes – and in the happiest color imaginable. The vibrant blood orange hue is a fun change from fall’s neutrals, and I paired it with peep-toe booties from JCPenney for a happy hour this past weekend. (It’s my first venture into this boot style – another great transitional item, by the way!) As the weather gets cooler, I can easily add a jacket and tights to the mix.

    Something About That

    • Maria MacNamara

Thank you so much, Jackie! I love this dress – it’s a boxy shape, but not in an overwhelming way; I’m only 5’4, and I don’t feel swallowed up by the fabric. Definitely give it a try – it would be great belted, too! And I am OBSESSED with Chapters. Every time I go to Toronto, it’s the first place I have to visit. 🙂

  • Love those booties! I immediately went to the site to find them! – J
