Style Views: Meet Maya

the style letters will feature a new interview each month on seasonal fashion and favorite trends, all from the perspectives of some very stylish ladies.

This month, Maya McDonald of Charmingly Styled shows us how to transition from winter to spring with a few key pieces.

I’m so excited to be guest posting for Maria’s amazing Style Views series! Today, I’m channeling all my wishful thinking to share my favorite pieces to transition from winter to spring. I know, you think I’m crazy {especially with this terrible Midwest winter}, BUT I’m crossing my fingers for some beautiful spring weather soon. Hey, a girl can dream!

Here are my spring essentials in anticipation of warmer weather:

Colorful cardigans: Even in the spring, cardigans are always a good idea. I love this pretty pink number for those in-between days where it’s a little like winter and a little like spring.

A floral scarf: Pretty florals add a spring in your step no matter the weather.{Plus, a scarf does double duty when there’s a chill outside!}

Tassels on just about anything: I’m all about a good tassel – and in spring I’m ready to add them to everything {really, purses, shirts, skirts – anything}. I love this Kendra Scott number – especially for spring & summer!

Pastel pretties: My jewelry gets a little makeover in the spring as I transition my darker pieces in favor of bright or pastel pieces. I love these delicate stunners – such a good color combo.

A classic jean jacket: A classic piece every gal should have in her closet. My jean jacket is my go-to outerwear when the weather turns a little warmer.

Leather booties: I love a good pair of leather booties, and of course, J.Crew makes the prettiest ones. The perfect brown leather boots are on the top of my spring wishlist this year!

Midi skirt: One of the many trends I’m dying to try this spring is a pastel midi skirt paired with a sweater crop top. I love this ASOS beauty. {And it’s under $100 – holla!}

Lovely leather tote: Another spring must-have – the perfect size if you’re commuting to work or venturing off to the farmers’ market for the weekend.

Thanks so much for having me, Maria! Hopefully, we’ll all have some beautiful spring weather to look forward to soon 🙂

  • That freaking tote has been on my wishlist for months – nay – YEARS. I just need to suck it up. I also love those booties and LOVE the idea of that midi skirt with a crop top.

    • Rachael,

      Doesn’t Maya have amazing taste? I feel like the two of you would get along very, very well. 🙂 And I am ALSO obsessed with the midi skirt and crop top look!

  • Love Maya’s picks!! Somehow I still do not have a denim jacket – thinking that needs to change this year (if it ever gets warm again)

    • Cait–we need to get you one! I highly recommend J.Crew’s version. I’ve had mine for years, and it only gets better with wear. When are we going shopping?!
